My Garden

This is my page, to post my "Garden" photos.

My "Spot on Earth" that makes me smile, like no other!

This little lady greets you as you pull in my drive.
Her name is "Sophia" the angel of "wisdom"
Find the name of your Angel
I'm depending on her to 'give me some'!

Saint Francis of Assisi (Giovanni Francesco di Bernardone; 1181/1182 – October 3, 1226)[2] was a Catholic deacon and the founder of the Order of Friars Minor, more commonly known as the Franciscans.

He is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment and one of the two patrons of Italy (with Catherine of Siena), and it is customary for Catholic churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on his feast day.

I put "St Francis"
in my yard to protect all the critters. There is a creek at the back of my propertiy and it is call "Alligator Creek", yes, there are many Alligators that live in there, along with a large assortment of different animals. The yard is registered with "The National Wildlife Federation" as a "Animal Habitat".  No chemicals of any sort is used.
Although I try to get outside to garden or just sit under a tree sometimes it's "Florida Hot", and my health will not allow me to be out there for long.  So the mornings, when all the critters are out looking for food, is my special time.
I'll take more photos and share, soon.

Let me introduce you to "My Dragon Flies"
I found these in a "Store Closing Sale" a few years ago and what did I do with them? Scattered them around the garden!
Some people think their so odd and some love them, rust and all.
I have not gotten around to naming them,, just let them loose, to enjoy their lives!

It's July 2010

I've been trying to get out in the yard to do a bit of work but we are in "Rainy Season" and it's like a "Rain Forest" out there!

My "Orchid Plants" just love the "Rain and Humidity".....

I have several tied to the big "Hickory" tree and they too are blooming.

Notice the "Stag Horn" in the background above ^ ^.... it's getting bigger. I think I put it on the tree about 3 years ago.

The most amazing thing happened this week... I found "This" walking around my yard!

A rather large "Bob Cat"
.  They are protected and roam free in Florida, but it's a little scary to see one out back!

Maybe the rain will hold off tomorrow.  I'd like to pull a few weeds and take away a lot of trash that has fallen from the trees... will see?

May 2011
I'm going to try to grow Lavender again.
For some reason I just can't keep this wonderful plant alive.  Yes, I've had many over the years and either did not water it enough or drowned it?
Maybe it was not enough sun?
This new Lavender plant is now in a terra cotta pot and in the full sun. From what I have read it likes dry but I need to water it well when dry. Maybe once a week?
I'll have to re post if it survives.
Wish me luck!

August 2011

It's been hot and steamy here in SoFla.  Not a lot I can do with my garden. It rains every day and most of my flowering plants are drowning.
I did manage to save a few seeds to be planted in the Fall.  Zone 9-10

September 2011
The weather is turning and it's been in the 80's this past week. It's my chance to get outside to do a bit of work.

I started pulling all the greenery in the front of my townhouse because this past two months the rainy season has turned the space into mud and nothing will grow properly.

The front walk has lifted over the summer, by a large root and I've been afraid someone will trip and break a leg or something.  Yesterday I had it totally taken away and am going to do something very different to the space.

The entire area will be made into a Front Patio with small pavers put into a nice braided design.  I see two white rockers, with cushions and a foot stool.  A place where I can sit and read or play on my laptop.
I did hire a few guys to remove the walk way but I'm saving a bit of money by laying the patio myself.  Might take me a few weeks but it will be done before October for sure.

"I'll post more on the progress soon"

Ok, it's Soon!

It's  December 2011 and it's finally finished!
My new front porch makes me so happy!

March 4th, 2012

My Climbing "Blaze of Glory Rose" arrived from Jackson & Perkins catalog.  The information that came with it said,
"It will be 6' tall" in the first season.
Well,,, I have all the patience in the world for my rose to climb the trellis....

I planted my rose in a 60 gal container and will post new photos as reaches for the sky!
